Stopping Time

I've slowly been working on some of my own scrap pages, including some for my "Memories" albums. This first one, of my sister and I when we had our braces, I made and posted in my on-line gallery quite some time ago, but just never mentioned it here. The second one, of my old pets is a new one.

I'm not one to really sit and look at old photos for a long time. But once we put our photos into a layout and decorate the page, they become more desirable to look at. Why is that, I wonder. That is the beauty of scrapbooking, isn't it.

I found this quote a long time ago and have been wanting to use it on a page. I have no idea where I found it, or who to credit it to. But it really speaks to the heart of a scrapbooker, so I will leave you with this...

"Why do you take photos? For most of us, it is in hope that we will remember the emotions and feelings we had at specific moments. It's as close as we get to stopping time."

時間を止めて

少しづつ自分の”思い出”アルバムを進んでいる。一つ目のレイアウト、矯正を付けてるの姉と私のページはずいぶん前に出来てたけど、ここに見せてないです。二つ目のレイアウト、大好きなペット、はこの間に出来た。

私はそんなに昔の写真を見るほうじゃないです。しかし、その写真でスクラップページを作って、飾りを付けるともっと見たくなって来る。不思議ですね。それはスクラップブッキングの魅力でしょう。

次の言葉はず～と前に読みました。とっても気に入って、スクラップページで使いたいと思ってる。どこで読んだのか、誰が言ってのか知りませんけど。写真を撮影する、スクラップするが大好きな方の心についてぴったり話してるのではないでしょうか。

”なぜ、私たちは写真を撮るのでしょうか？多くの人にとって、「特別な時」を記憶にとどめるためのものでしょう。あの時の感情、気持ちを。その止まった瞬間に近づける。それが写真です。"

私にとっては、それがスクラップブッキングです。
