A thought on creative processes

Well, I not only survived, but thrived. NSD that is. I think I spent about $35 spread over 5 shops. AND got most of the items on all of my wish lists at that. (pats self on back). Not bad. There have been years when I spent more. Much more. Too much. But this year I controlled myself.

Was busy scrapping both before and after the sales. I have time to scrap. It feels so Wonderful! Just slow, easy, no-pressure, have-fun pages. I haven't used any of my NSD purchases yet, but I know I will. I'm planning the pages in my head. Do you do that? Plan the pages beforehand? or just go with the flow of the creative process.

I think I'm a bit in the middle. If its a CT assignment, then I go looking for the right photos to match the kit. If its a challenge page, then I have to think out my theme, find the photos and find a kit that will meet the challenge requirements. If I start out with the pictures, I usually find it takes me longer because I am trying to match the kit to the photos (instead of the other way around). When I start a page with the photos, I find that those pages end up having more meaning to me.

My favorite pages are usually those that just come together. Where the photos and kit end up being perfect for each other. When I have fun in the process.

I have a few of each of these pages to share with you today, spanning many years.

NSD Weekend (in other words this post is 100% scrapbooking related)

This weekend is NSD weekend. Of course you all already know that, right? I am so used to the digital world of scrapbooking that I've never even ventured into paper scrapbooking sites on one of these weekends. Do the traditional scrapbooking sites have NSD events as well? I guess I'll have to drop in and see what's up. I suppose it would be really great if I just lived in the states and could drop into a real life scrapbooking mega-store. There are probably midnight crops and all-night chats. That might sound tempting if I were a night owl, but I'm not. Usually in bed by 10:30 - that's me.

The Digichick will certainly be participating in NSD weekend. For this event, the TDC designers have taken the reins and will be hosting a Facebook hop. Check out this beautiful kit you can get all for just liking our designer's FB pages.

TDC's May boutique collab, called Roots and Wings, is in the shop. Stunning again. As usual. Absolutely love the color combination. As usual. This is a page I made using the collab as well as a few other goodies from the shop. My beloved niece's babes are so photogenic. Just to keep it all honest, this page is a complete and total scraplift of a page I saw made by Van Nguyen.

Studio ViVa Artistry has teamed up with another one of my fave designers, Etc. by Danyale to make the cuuuutest collab called Brain Freeze. Its available at both Scrapbook Graphics and The Digichick. This page uses a picture (I know its blurry) of my niece's oldest daughter, oh so many years ago.

For this last new page, I used Renewal by Alamama's Pressed Petals. She's decided to make The Digichick her permanent new digi home. Yay!

Last, but not least. Here is my Pinterest Layout that was on the cover of last month's Artisan Notebook.

As seen in the April 2012 Artisan Notebook.

And.... I think that's it for now. I've still got to at least *try* to get a few more things made before the weekend events. Too bad its fallen right in the middle of Golden Week here in Japan. I only had to work one day this whole week and the rest of the days are holidays (business and school). You know how you lose track of even what day it is when you're on vacation? Well, that's how I'm feeling now. Its Thursday, I think...

As always, thank you so much for stopping by my corner of the web. Please come again soon.
