A first for me

Most of my scrapbooking friends know that I love to make Year-in-Review pages for my family album. Several weeks ago, I was asked by The Daily Scrapper if they could use one of my Year in Review layouts for their January Edition. OF COURSE I said yes.

Please come take a look some incredibly wonderful Year in Review pages over at The Daily Scrapper.

Change of Plans

I already told most of you in our last class, but the advanced scrap class for February has been changed, two points.

1. We will meet on the 17th of February (NOT the 24th).

2. I have changed the challenge. The new challenge is for you to make a page using Bright and Bold papers from Sassafras Lass.

Here is a link to their site. I have made a page of examples and will mail it to your home address (or put it into your post box) soon.

Because of the bold patterns and colors of the papers, I definitely recommend keeping your photos simple. Simple backgrounds and close-ups seem to be easiest to work with. But most importantly, let's have fun with these wonderful papers!

Stopping Time

I've slowly been working on some of my own scrap pages, including some for my "Memories" albums. This first one, of my sister and I when we had our braces, I made and posted in my on-line gallery quite some time ago, but just never mentioned it here. The second one, of my old pets is a new one.

I'm not one to really sit and look at old photos for a long time. But once we put our photos into a layout and decorate the page, they become more desirable to look at. Why is that, I wonder. That is the beauty of scrapbooking, isn't it.

I found this quote a long time ago and have been wanting to use it on a page. I have no idea where I found it, or who to credit it to. But it really speaks to the heart of a scrapbooker, so I will leave you with this...

"Why do you take photos? For most of us, it is in hope that we will remember the emotions and feelings we had at specific moments. It's as close as we get to stopping time."

New Year Schedule and Challenge

Happy New Year. I hope 2009 will be a great year for all of you!

Two points of business this time. January challenge for the advanced class and a February schedule.

1. January 27th, Advance Class Challenge.

For our first challenge of the new year, let's play with circles. Just one circle or several.
They can be big circles, or small. Cut out circles or painted on. The only limit is your imagination. For the advanced students, I'll be emailing you a page with examples soon. I hope you find a page you'd like to try to make.

See you on the 27th!

2. February Class Schedule

February 10th (Tuesday) Open Scrap (any page theme is ok, no lesson or challenge)

February 24th (Tuesday) Advanced Class (Challenge will be using premade or self-made clear acrylic accents!)

As of now, I've only scheduled for these two days. Depending on the number of people who want to join, I MAY schedule another day as well. I'll let you know. So if you want to join on one of these days, please let me know as soon as possible!

"Open class" means anyone who has scrapped before, any level, is welcome to come.
"Advanced scrappers" are those who have been scrapping for more than one year.
Limit: 8 people
